A shocking piece of news as I was driving to work, when the news came on thru the radio that, Michael Jackson has passed away due to cardiac arrest. A pop star has just died.

One of my very first exposure to Michale Jackson song while I was a secondary school kid, a classmate of mine brought a cassette tape along a history field trip to Malacca and requested the coach driver to play in on the radio and that very song is "Heal the World" and the other is "Black or White" among others. However "Heal the World" is still my favourite.

Unfortunate that he is unable to come out to complete his World Tour to made good of his debts and his 'bads'.

Folding Plug H 264 World's Thinnest

We hate plugs. Especially when you have to put them in your bag and they don't quite fit, or they scratch up your laptop. UK plugs are some of the biggest in the world, and that irked one designer enough to totally re-imagine them.

The folding plug concept has been visited before, but never to this radical a degree. The new design measures just 1cm thick when collapsed, but takes a moment to fold out for use.

Is a very innovative and creative idea. Never came across my mind that a common AC plug can be collapsed into such compared size. Definitely a ideal travel companion!!

I saved $21.45 for a full tank of fuel

Not too long ago a similar post was posted..however I am here to share abit more!

Sorry, guys..got to apologized to all. The title might have made you happy? Well, yes indeed I really saved $21.45 for a full tank of fuel. But is diesel not the common petrol.

Months ago a friend introduced me to Bio-diesel. Bio-diesel is a clean and green form of fuel, first of all it does not deplete any oil used for food processing. Oils are collected back from stalls or restaurant by Alpha Bio Diesel and processed as diesel.

The plus point is that bio diesel cleaned up your engine and precent black sooth from forming inside your exhaust and does prevent pollution to the environment and less maintance fees when you visit the workshop.

A petrol of diesel cost around $1.24 per liter and bio-diesel cost me around $0.85cents. Original price of bio diesel is $1.00 per liter and they are having a 15% discount.

Every liter of bio-diesel I pumped saved me $0.39cents. And very time I would need to pump 55 liters. Thus a saving of $21.45 per full tank. Imagine I my frequency is 4 times monthly. That will bring a saving of $1029.60

Sufficient for me to pay 2 months of vehical installment and some spare change for another 3 full tanks.

So, if you know of anyone using a diesel engine to spread the news to them and GREEN the environment together!

*No my worry is will government 'eye' this bio diesel and create a 'bio diesel tax'???

While wind energy isn't necessarily wacky in and of itself, you've got to admit there's something a little out there about a giant wind farm floating in the middle of the ocean. If you plan on visiting Norway in the coming years, you may catch a glimpse of these towering turbines spinning off the country's southwest coast from your airplane window.

Offshore wind farms can only be placed in water up to 131 feet (40 meters) deep, but floating wind turbines are a relatively new concept designed to take advantage of the high-speed winds located farther out at sea.

Since they don't have to be physically buried in the sea floor, floating turbines can be placed in water as deep as 2,297 feet (700 meters).

Even more appealing, perhaps, is the greater energy capacity of these floating turbines. While winds moving across land may only average speeds around 13 feet (4 meters) per second due to obstructions like hills and trees, winds blowing over the open ocean reach speeds at least twice as fast.

Some reports suggest that wind farms could provide up to 15 percent of the world's future energy needs

StatoilHydro, a Norwegian energy company, has plans to construct the world's first full-scale floating wind farm in 2009. According to the company's Web site, each turbine will weigh a total of 5,842 tons (5,300 metric tons). The turbine will stand 213 feet (65 meters) above sea level, while a 328-foot (100-meter).

With such technology of placing wind farm out at sea, there will be less disruption to trading sea lanes or obstruction to multi-million dollar sea-view living apartments.

SIA pilots take pay cut?? How about our ministers?

It came to be a big surprised that the Alpa-S (Air Line Pilots Association - Singapore) has agreed and taken pay cut due to the recent economic crisis.

Alpa-S is known for their tough stand in agreeing to pay cuts, those who remember many years ago, in the 80s, where the airline pilots went on strike and how LKY wanted to use the Reservist Act to recall Air Force pilots to fly SIA plane?

Yes, the pay cuts is huge, between 10% to 20%.

1,800 pilots agreed to 1 day of no pay leave per month and 65% cut of one day's pay a month, pro-rated from their monthly basic salary.

SIA Chairman Chew Choon Seng, has taken a 20% paycut. It too came to a surprised that Chew Choon Seng is drawing the similar salary as PM Lee Hsien Loong, $3.25 million to $3.5 million per annum, according to the airline's annual report 2008. Basic salary formed 38% the rest in form of bonuses and benefits.

A 20% pay cut would means $650,000 less yearly and $54,000 monthly and $1,805 less daily. At the end of the day Chew Choon Seng still get his $2,600,000. million yearly.

Based on Chew's caculation, if the cabinet and MPs of Singapore can take a cut of 20%... do your own maths, you should see the saving is very much substantial.

H1N1 crosses 100 mark

The number of confirmed H1N1 flu here has crossed the 100 mark. Yesterday registered the highest cases in a single day, 26 cases.

It seems that the young are more prone in getting the H1N1 flu. Could it be of a weaker immune system? The cases here is expected to rise, most important is to keep a healthy lifestyle, eat well, rest well, sleep well.

Sad to hear another confirmed cases coming from the Asian Youth games, a Philippine football team. Because of that 22 team members plus 2 Singapore official has to be quarantine at Aloha rest and the match postpone.

Dams along yellow river risk collapsing

Bad, improper and hastily construction was the main reason to has caused dams to collapsed just one to two years after being built. Another reason could be embezzlement of funds for the construction of dam.

Based on reports from China, a total of 59 dams nationwide in China were breached between 1999 and 2008, 20 caused by quality defects and the rest by torrential rains.

More than 40% or 37,000 - are in otential danger of overflowing. One worst dam accidents occured in Henan province in 1975, when a collapse at one dam triggered a domino effect, casing about 26,000 people to drown. Over 100,000 more may have died in the subsequent famine and disease outbreaks.

Well, afterall the safety and counstrction and many more things in China may not be up to standard.. remember the 'Sanlu' milk incident? Wonder when will China raised it's safety standard.

Building sub-standard dams definitely will caused more harm to the environment than good to it.

14 "banned" from entering Singapore Casino

Family members in Singapore have signed up for their family members to be banned from casino. The main reason..compulsive gambling.

There were many enquiries on the how about to put family members on the 'barred list' however only 14 families have gone beyond enquiring about these orders to sitting through interviews with counselors to share how the gambler's actions have hurt them, before such family exclusion orders are issued.

Among all, only 1 was below the age of 21. A part time student is already on the run from laon sharks , having owed up to "tens of thousands of dollars. But good to hear that the 21years old was a willing youth that went with his family to Tanjong Pagar Family Service to be included in the 'barred list'.

Also, later this year, Singaporeans can 'voluntarily' 'ban' themselves from the casinos. Also a total of 29,000 undischarged bankrupts will also be barred from casino too.

Ok.. after so much 'hypes' and publicity by online groups to started with a petition for resignation and another petition to award a 'special award' to Liu Guo Dong and yet another petition to DPM Teo Chee Hean.

All these seem fruitless, so I wonder whether is there still avenue to redress people's sentiment to the government? The government had make their stand clear, that STTA should resolve this issue with Liu Guo Dong amicably, thus governement is washing their hands off this matter.

Is Lee Bee Wah shielded? just becos she is an MP or and MP in 'someboby' ward or GRC?

Petition to remove Lee Bee Wah as STTA President stand at 5772 signatories as for now.

Petition to DPM Teo Chee Hean to award a 'special award' to Liu Guo Dong stands at 164.

Numbers are going down, evern with the recent Hong Lim Park Petition only managed to garner 57 signatures. Perhaps under the watchful eye of the media, public are less forthcoming to pen in their signature.

Alert Level 6: Full-blown flu pandemic

Work up this morning, turning on the TV set in my room.. and it was showing a WHO press conference. It's official, the recent Swine flu also known as H1N1 influenza alert level was raise to the highest. Level 6 = A full-blown pandemic.

This crisis has escalated into the world’s first influenza pandemic in 40 years after infecting tens of thousands of people in 74 countries.

WHO director general Margaret Chan said the declaration of a “moderate” pandemic should not spark panic and did not mean the death toll from A(H1N1), which currently stands at 144, would rise sharply.

“Quite on the contrary, many people having mild disease will recover without medicine in some cases, and it is good news, but the tendency to move into complacency is our biggest concern,” she added. This is true compared to the SARS period where it was more deadly virus and Singapore was quite badly affected too.

Sooner or later this H1N1 will 'circulate' itself round the world, so it is better to get it at a later stage, where more knowledge of the virus is known to the researchers and doctors. And by then a vaccine will have been found. Patients getting it will have better access to treatment.

Recently weather in Singapore is extremely hot! Usually I will shower twice a day but with the recent weather I need another shower before going to bed. Even with that is still hot and humid with the 'sticky' feeling on you..how to get a good night sleep?

News article reported that the weather in Singapore for the next few days is expected to rise to 36 degree Celsius. Weather yesterday recorded at 35 degree Celsius. Gosh! yesterday was hot enough, luckily I am in a air-con environment at work except when I am at home.

Let's hope such weather will not cause an further spread og H1N1 or the breeding of dengue mosquito. Indirectly it will affect the Singapore economy.

Singapore economy to shrink 6.5% this year :Economist

The forecast is out for Singapore economy outlook to shrink by 6.5%. This is worse than the 4.9 per cent contraction predicted in the previous survey in March. But the headline number is still at the more optimistic end of the government’s forecast of a 6 to 9 per cent contraction. (1st quarter was a -10.1%)

Economists and analysts who took part in the latest quarterly survey also expect a jobless rate of 4.2 per cent by the end of the year, according to the survey released on Wednesday. This is slightly better than the 4.4 per cent unemployment rate forecast in March.

Job cycles usually lag 2 to 3 quarters behind the economic cycle but economists are optimistic that the job situation will improve by year end.

I do think and hope the worst may well be over for the Singapore economy, after the economy shrank 10.1 per cent on year in the first quarter.

That leads me to recall a projection by a Church member who is a lecturer at a local polytechnic they he do see the economy to level-out by 2nd quarter.

Another Church member who is in the distribution line also see some green shoots..as for me who is in the retail sector..well..still need to hang on abit more cos this sector usually is the last to feel any effect, be it upturn or downturn.

The Straits Times reported that Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s choice of taking commercial flights while on overseas visits was praised by a South Korean official and the country’s best-selling national newspaper.

Mr Lee Hsien Loong had arrived on a commercial flight at Incheon airport in Seoul and was waiting to check in for the flight to Jeju at Gimpo airport. He was asked by South Korean Finance Minister Yoon Jeung Hyun why he chose to fly commercial.

The South Korean Finance Minister asked: ‘Why doesn’t the leader of an affluent country use a private or charter jet?’ noting that Singapore’s per capita GDP was about twice that of South Korea’s.

Mr Lee Hsien Loong replied, he did not think Singapore was an affluent country, the Korean daily reported.

Isn’t it an irony that the Prime Minister of a country which is non affluent by his own admission, is the highest paid leader in the world?(more then all the G8 leaders combined!

South Korean President is paid 16 million wons a month or only S$18,340 (1 won = $0.000115) in comparison to Prime Minister’s monthly salary of approximately $250,000+. or nearly $3.2million a year

Given the "pittance" salary given to the South Korean President, it is not too much to entitle him to the use of a private jet a few times a year on his travels.

iphone 3G Price to drop, rumour or not?

Finally the WWDC 09 keynote is over: the iPhone 3G S is here. According to sources, a new iPhone with double the RAM and double the speed and with built in camera, will be released today, priced at the same price point as the current iPhone 3G.

The current iPhone 3G will then be branded as the “lower end” model, with the price dropping drastically to USD99, compared to USD199 and USD299 previously.

Will Singapore see a drastic drop too? As for me right now, iphone looks cool to me but not essential. Still stick to my Sony Ericsson.

Looking back my 1st phone was back in 1999.. a Ericsson, followed by another.. with a flip cover..then it was Nokia..and later back to Sony Ericsson.

Perhaps i might win or iphone somehow? haaa

Singapore 8th case of H1N1

The 8th case of H1N1 in Singapore was from a 15-YEAR-OLD Singaporean student, studying in India, became the island's eighth case of novel H1N1 influenza, or A (H1N1).

He was also the first to be picked up by the thermal scanner at Changi Airport. The boy had been in Orlando and Atlanta in the United States on a school trip from May 17 to last Sunday.

His fever was detected by the airport scanners when he arrived Monday in Singapore from Atlanta via Mumbai. He had been feverish during the flight and was seated at 39K on Singapore Airlines SQ421.

Wonder will there still be any more imported case of H1N1? So far there is no sign of spreading within the community. Hope everything will be fine.

H1N1 Influenza A 1st case in Singapore

Singapore appeared on the radar map of the H1N1 influenza A. Nothing surprise as it was expected by the health minister Khaw Boon Wah.

The first imported case was by a 22-year-old student from the Singapore Management University (SMU) on the early morning of 26th May. She is a third-year Business Management student at SMU. She was on its New York Business Study Mission with 19 other students and a faculty member from May 14-24.

It least she has the social responsibility to see a Dr in her nearby clinic rather then to a polyclinic to contain the spread.

Test are needed to confirm a H1N1 case and it takes an average of 12 hours before a conclusion is reached.

During this time, there is “almost zero chance” of contracting the virus from another person at if you are able to keep a 2 meters distant from another human being or anyone you suspect might have the H1N1.

Petition to SNOC to give special award to Liu Guodong ...

Another wave of petition initiative from wayang.com. This time around this petition will be send to DPM Teo Chee Hean . The move is to give out a Special Award to Liu Guo Dong for his achivment in getting the Olympic Silver Medal for Singapore after a 48years drought.

A check with the website has showed about 112 signatories have sign the petition, which is far much lesser then the petition to remove Lee Bee Wah which has more then 5000 signatories.

The Circle Line

5 Stations of the Circle Line was opened by the DPM Teo Chee Chean on 27th May 2009.

They are Bartley, Serangoon, Lorong Chuan, Bishan and Marymount stations and trains will start rolling from Thursday morning.

An estimate of 55,000 commuters are expected to use this five stations daily. The remaining stations will open from 2010. Once fully operational, ridership is around the figures of 500,000 daily.

The tunneling is more then 90% completed leaving the West Coast station which will start excavation soon. The whole project is expect to be completed by September this year.

Six stations have already received the Temporary Occupation Permit - an indication that they will be next in line to be open to the public. They are Dhoby Ghaut, Bras Basah, Esplanade, Promenade, Stadium and Tai Seng.

As for me, my workplace is at One North Station, hope it will be open soon! Need that traffic for business.

Flyers of Lee Bee Wah

An unfortunate incident ha happen to Nee Soon South Ward of the Ang Mo Kio GRC. Some mischievous fellow had printed Lee Bee Wah photo onto a toilet seat with some reamrks.

This was printed into flyers and pasted on BBQ pit and pillars where Lee Bee Wah is expected to walk pass during her morning brisk walk with resident of Nee Soon South / Kathib.

However, the grassroots leaders came and began removing the flyers frentically. It is not known who the culprit is. He/she is most likely a resident staying in the vicinity who is familiar with where the RC usually conducts its warm-up exercises cum brisk walk. The flyers were probably put there to draw the attention of Lee Bee Wah.

Well, this is just another fortunate incident where a 'distressed' or 'unhappy' citizens voicing out their anger and frustration over the actions of Lee Bee Wah during this STTA~Liu Guo Dong table tennis saga.

It was reported that Liu Guo dong, left Singapore on 18th May without any settlement with STTA.

Liu Guo Dong commented:
"After two discussions, Lee Bee Wah wasn’t even present once. I think with this attitude, they say one thing, and then mean another. They have not honestly acknowledged this matter. I will not sign anything with them because I have no relationship with them."

He also said "He is still not satisfied and plans to return to Singapore to pursue the matter." although he did not give a date.

Third, with regards to the 'abandoning a team', was Liu really abandoning a team? Yes, he put in the efforts and time with the girls but again was he appreciated at the end?

She did it again! Yes Lee Bee Wah aka LB, the President of STTA; Singapore Table Tennis Association, sweeps up yet another storm with her recent saga with Liu Guo dong.

When asked about the nomination criteria of a Best Coach of the Year and why Liu Guo Dong was not recommended she commented the best coach should have professionalism, integrity and well liked by players.

Having said that...her comments created a uproar in the public to come up with a online petition to have her removed as the President of Singapore Table Tennis Association(STTA). I beleive one time is far to many, she started the post Olypmic saga by blasting out her unhappiness with Liu Guo Dong and now this recent saga again.

As a MP, civil servant, public figure, government official, she should at least think twice before making any comments or remarks.

One shouldn't bring in personal matters and making it official, Lee Bee Wah has only met Liu Guo Dong 3 times in person and with such short encounter how well can you know a person's character?

Mind you, Liu Guo Dong still needs a job to support himself and his family and please be kinds with your words. Like it or not, Liu Guo Dong did played an important role in getting the women table tennis team our long waited Olympic Medal..a long 48years drought.

I am definitely for her removal us the President of Singapore Table Tennis Association and let's hope she will not be seen in the next General Election, this is not the kind of MP I will vote into office.

Well, I am very keen to know who in the government will step out and say "Well, this is a honest mistake, she know her wrong and admitted it, let's close the case and LET'S MOVE ON!"

Been quite a while since I last posted, has been busy lately. So much buzz about the recent swine flu but one the good side of it, it is not as deadly as the SARS flu back in 2003. That epidemic alone took 33 lives in Singapore.

But one incident really shocked me and that is the reaction from the Mexico Foreign Minister. She has accused of unfair treatments by countries on Mexicans after the outbreak of the Swine flu. This include quarantine on Mexicans that show no sign of the swine flu.

I think it is only fair to put in such measure to prevent the spread of the swine flu. Cos you can carry the virus and spread it without showing any sign symptoms. Asia has faced SARS before and will be at a better position to know what measure need to be in place to prevent a repeat pandemic.

Palm Sunday marks the day of Jesus triumphant entry into Jerusalem, which always falls on the Sunday before Easter Sunday.

With accordance to the scriptures, Jesus sent two disciples into a village to untie a donkey from a tree which was never ridden. And the owner would ask about it and the disciples to replied "The Lord needed it..."

Jesus then rode the donkey into Jerusalem, with people putting their cloaks on the road along side with palm leaves so as to make it more comfortable.

But later in the week, Jesus was betrayed by Judas suffered on the Cross, paid the price of sin so that the world may be saved who ever believe in Him.

Yes, It is indeed a time of celebration of Jesus triumphant entry! Come tomorrow, Maundy Thursday, my Church will practice this tradition of "Stripping of the Church" ; working in complete silence, everything in relation to worship is removed one by one each and every item of decoration — vessels, paraments, candles, candlesticks, vases, flags, banners — and everything used in worship other than furniture.

It is to symbolize shame in early days that the Saviour has died versus the joy we experience in our worship came at the cost of the death of the One we worship.

After the 'stripping' the Choir will take their leave followed by switching of the lights and the congregation depart in silence with no Benediction given..

Mother abandon her toddler

A recent news article read that a 32 year-old woman has left her toddler son at Marsiling Mrt Station.

The shocking part of the news is that 10 days later on Sept 11 2008, she did it again! outside Tiong Bahru Plaza. It's not because she is unable to take care of her child due to illness or whatsoever.

Her can a mother put her child at such risk? Leaving the child by mrt and a shopping complex. Perhaps she has lost all possible ways to communicate with her husband? Or perhaps is the post-natal blues? But whatever the case maybe, do spare a thought for the poor boy. And one learning lesson here is that.."always communicate" never take things into our own hands!

After investigations her real motive was to get the attention of us neglecting husband. She had hoped that, by giving her husband the impression that she was careless about looking after the child, he would show more affection and responsibility to the boy.

Currently undergoing counselling however she could be fine up to $4000 or a jail term of up to four years, or both.

Yes! The world is fighting global climate change and Singapore has caught the bug in a big way.

More than 300 organisations and 3,000 individuals here have pledge to switch off theirs lights for 1 hour next Saturday for 1 hour to mark Earth Hour, a global initiative by World Wide Fund for Nature(WWF).

Next Saturday at 8.30pm local time, people around the world will turn off the lights for an hour, that means our mother earth will take an hour 'rest' and during this hour, electricity consumption will take a dip.

Is really good to see more than 1,800 cities and 80 countries joining hands for a good cause.

As for me, will be 1 hour in darkness, no Television and computer! My bid for mother earth!

During my early days in Higher Diploma course; back then we were studying about Asian Economic Environment. A closely knitted economy and its benefits.

I do strongly support for an Asean integrated economy, the 1o Nations will have the ability to leverage its market of 570 million people and compete for investments with China and India, the world's fastest growing economies. Slightly bigger in population size of EU of 499 million people. But don't forget we have a cheap labour market here and very good potential growth in years to come!

Lastly, I guess much need to be done to help businesses to overcome hard times and to minimise layoff and also to bring landlords in shopping malls and privatised flatted factory to reduce rent for their tenants.

In such time of recession and uncertainty why not consider some saving tips to save??

In today's society, it is increasingly difficult to save more money and reduce excess spending. While it is true that some spending is outside of our control and that includes life's necessities, all too often people spend their hard-earned money needlessly and indeed whimsically. It is human nature to not be content with what you have, and this can be seen dramatically in this growing culture of commercialism. No matter how much you earn, it never seems as though you have enough; especially when you take note of the novel and intriguing items at your local department store.

There are a few things you can do to limit excess spending to a minimum. One of the easiest and most productive steps you can take is to :-

1) leave your credit cards at home when going out to the mall, making sure that you have enough to cover your needs in advance before charging it and hoping you can pay later. It is much easier on your conscience to hand the cashier a credit card and forget about the purchase than it is to give cash, especially if it has been difficult for you to obtain in advance. This will ensure that you won't go over your budget on impulse or because of the latest fads and trends.

2) Another step you can take is to save a portion of your money toward the future, keeping the rest to cover for your essential needs and the remainder being kept as regular spending money. This may be frustrating at first, but it quickly yields results and is one of the most useful ways to save more money.

3) Needs vs Wants; Some have compared shopping to other forms of addictions, and in many cases this is all too true. Just as they have to abstain from their vices and keep away from indulging their habits, so do those who are "addicted," whether figuratively or literally, to shopping. Spend on what you need and not what you want, for it will surely lighten your expenses.

4) Look out for coupons and saving deals; this may make you look like a stingy fellow or a housewife but in such situation this is another sure way of making savings in your purchases. As there is a Asian saying 'A small daily saving can make it into a mountain"..imagine a mountain of coins and notes??

5) A Penny Saved is a Penny Earned; everyone knows how difficult it is to amass a large amount of wealth, especially if you are forced to live on a budget. However, you shouldn't lose hope; the key to building wealth is to collect smaller sums of money from your daily savings toward future use.

This method is probably one of the simplest and most overlooked ways to save money, and all it requires on your part is a piggy bank; or, if this doesn't appeal to you, a simple container or mason jar. Instead of discarding or more probably losing your loose change from your daily transactions, deposit it in your desired container. Even if it's only a few cents on a dollar, it is still money that you will be able to use later.

After a few months, you'd be surprised how much you can potentially save in such a seemingly unimportant way. After a year, you'll wonder why you ever thought that loose change was less worthy than its paper counterpart. Though the amount may vary from person to person, even if you're able to save enough money for one or two extra items at the end of the year, the extra saving on your part was worth it. Just remember: saving doesn't cost you a thing. Not saving certainly does.

Just a while ago I was chatting with a friend of my on life choices and regrets. So my stand is this, in life there are many choices to be made and there is no right or wrong
to it.

Is a matter of making the best informed choices at that particular time. And you should not look back and say.. "ah.. I should not have made this choices" by doing so I feel you are making yourself miserable! cos you have created a mindset in your brain saying "Well that choice I made was BAD and IF I had choose the other one, it could have been better"!

As for me, once a choice is made..look forward and see how you can better the outcome of your choice! Have a positive mindset!

For a positive mindset breeds Positive Results and a negative one breeds DESTRUCTION and DISCONTENTMENT!

Lastly, this friend of mind leave this word...which I feel is very good.. at least he is on the positive side..

We should learn from past, live in present and plan for future and not brood about past and miss the present and spoil future

The best solar eclipse for the decade in Singapore will occur on 26 January 2009. About 72% of the Sun will be covered by the Moon at maximum.

An eclipse occurs when the Sun, the Moon and the Earth form a straight line. A Solar eclipse occurs when the Moon comes in between the Earth and the Sun.

This year there will be five eclipses that will occur. Only two out of the five eclipses will be visible in Singapore, subject to weather. The next eclipse, after 26th January, will be another Solar eclipse, which will occur on 22 July 2009.

The first solar eclipse of 2009 is an annular eclipse, not a total eclipse. An annular eclipse occurs when the Sun and Moon are exactly in line, but the apparent size of the Moon is smaller than that of the Sun. Hence the Sun appears as a very bright ring, or annulus, surrounding the outline of the Moon.

In Singapore, the partial eclipse will be begin from 4:30PM to 6:30PM (local Singapore time). Maximum eclipse will be at 5:49 PM. The sun will be in the western sky and during maximum eclipse, 72% of it will be covered up by the moon! It will be a pretty impressive sight. Just pray that the clouds stay out of the way.

Please remember that viewing the sun without proper protection is extremely dangerous. Even when 72% of the sun is covered by the moon, the light is still bright enough to blind your eyes. And please do not try to view the eclipse using sunglasses. They will not protect your eyesight. If you have a pair of binoculars or a telescope, please do not look at the sun through them without proper solar filters that are fitted at the front of your instrument, not at the eyepiece!

Ok so you don't have any telescope, how are you going to view Monday's eclipse then? There are a few simple ways to view the eclipse safely. One is to make yourself a pinhole projector. Get a long box (the longer the better), a piece of aluminum foil, a pin, and a sheet of white paper or you can opt for a quick and easy version using just two pieces of cardboard. Instructions here .

But of course, you can always pay a visit to the Singapore Science Centre's Observatory to view the eclipse together with other astronomers. They will have a variety of telescopes there equipped with proper solar filters but it could be very crowded. Details here .

Attention : Do not observe the sun with your unaided eyes as it may cause permanent eye damage or blindness. To view the solar eclipse safely, you can use the solar eclipse viewer.

America has it's first black President sworn into Office. It is my very first time that I witness the swearing in of a United States President in my life.

On 23rd of December, my parents and myself were invited by Elaine to her care
group place for My Hope Singapore Dvds viewing. We watched Kelvin's conversion testimony together with 20s other pre-believers.

God work in an amazing way... my mum prayed the sinner's prayer together with another 3 pre-believers that was present during the session.

Looking back...in 2008 Dec 14th my dad too prayed the sinner's prayer.. God's perfect gift during the month of Christmas.

Jesus Loves You

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes on Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

In order to be saved we must first realize our need of a Savior. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23. For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23.

We need to repent of our sin. True repentence is a genuine remorse for our sins and a turning away from them. We need to realize that salvation is a gift from God not of our own works but the grace of God. In order to recieve that gift we need to accept it.

Jesus Christ died on the cross to buy our pardon from sin. We need to believe that Jesus died for our sins on the cross and that He rose from the grave and be willing to turn from our sins and accept His gift of eternal life.

Invite Jesus to come into your heart and cleanse you from your sin and ask Him to live in your heart and recieve Him as your Lord and Savior.

How to pray:

Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. I believe that you died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite you to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow you as Lord and Savior. In Jesus name. Amen

The Lord Jesus prayed: Give us this day our daily bread. He was talking about spiritual food. Our daily bread is the word of God. Read your Bible everyday. Set up a time each day when you can be alone with God. A good place to start is the book of John. Jesus commands us to unite with other believers: Do not forsake the assembling of yourselves together as the manner of some is. It is important to attend a Bible believing church. Jesus says to pray unceasing, meaning that we should talk to Him in our thoughts as we go through the day as well as during our daily devotional time. On 15th December 2008, the charter of the Association of South East Asian Nations now has official status, binding members to an enhanced legal framework. But as Asia begins to experience the full force of the global economic crisis it may be some time before the grouping begins to operate as a European Union-style community.
What is in the Charter?...

Principles set out in the charter include:

Emphasising the centrality of ASEAN in regional cooperation.

Respect for the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, non-interference and national identities of ASEAN members.

Promoting regional peace and identity, peaceful settlements of disputes through dialogue and consultation, and the renunciation of aggression.

Upholding international law with respect to human rights, social justice and multilateral trade.

Encouraging regional integration of trade.

Appointment of a Secretary-General and Permanent Representatives of ASEAN.

Establishment of a human rights body and an unresolved dispute mechanism, to be decided at ASEAN Summits.

Development of friendly external relations and a position with the UN (like the EU)

Increasing the number of ASEAN summits to twice a year and the ability to convene for emergency situations.

ASEAN's members are Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

They are home to half a billion people. In terms of development, they range from wealthy modern Singapore and Brunei to impoverished, agrarian Laos and Cambodia. Politically, members include democratic Philippines and Indonesia, and military-ruled Burma.

The charter was to have been inaugurated at the annual ASEAN summit in Thailand this month, but a political crisis there forced its postponement. Monday's meeting at the Jakarta secretariat was convened specially to enact the charter.

The charter opens the door to a single ASEAN market within seven years. However, the unfolding global economic crisis may slow. There are fears that the crisis may slow efforts to negotiate the free trade agreement.

ASEAN has also come under attack for failing to address human rights abuses by its member, particularly in military-ruled Burma.

New source of Energy

Jatropha, a plant that is native to Central America and grown in countries throughout Asia such as India, China, Indonesia and Myanmar. Could be the rising star as biofuel replacing the crude oil that we are using now.

Jatropha is a resilient plant. It is resistant to drought and pests attack. It produces seeds that can produce yield of up to 40% oil. When the seeds are crushed and processed, the resulting oil can be used in a standard diesel engine.

Myanmar can produce up to six million barrels of crude oil annually. At current stage it is not enough to meet domestic demand thus forcing them to spend more than US$200 million (S$302 million) a year on diesel and crude oil imports. But this could change when the production increases.

Comparing with other feedstocks, Jatropha when used in diesel engines will emits less carbon emissions thus making it a good alternative to diesel.

Jatropha's oil yield is said to be 2,000 litres per ha, against rapeseed's 1,200 litres and soybean's 600 litres.

Although, palm oil yields is higher, at 4,500 litres per ha but it is less sustainable and suitable cos it is a food crop and competes for arable land, at times leading to deforestation.

In terms of breakeven costs jatropha is by far the most efficient biofuel at US$50 per barrel. It trumps other traditional feedstocks such as palm oil (US$149) rapeseed (US$190) and soybean (US$144).

Let's see how jatropha will develop to become the champion of biofuels in the 21st century

Oil prices going down..below US$43 per barrel

Good news to many of us, the price of oil is going south. But fall in oil prices could somehow be limited by the news that President-elect Barack Obama plans to implement a major infrastructure program to help boost employment in the weakening US economy.

With all the stimulus packages and output cuts by Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec), we may see the oil price stabilizing.

Opec, which controls about 40 percent of world crude supplies, announced a production cut of 1.5 million barrels a day in October and 500,000 barrels in September.

But let's keep our fingers crossed as Opec will meet again in Algeria on December 17th to discuss on further output reduction, this may cause the oil to go up again.

Sale of the last of Singapore Power Plant

The news in the papers really shocked me! Power Seraya was sold to Malaysia's YTL for a really good price of $3.8billion, the least among the 3 power plants. This also surprised many market analysts.

The price tag of $3.8billion is low compared to Tuas Power being sold to Chinese firm Huaneng for $4.23 billion and Senoko Power to a consortium led by Marubeni Corp for $4 billion.

My question is why the sale of a Key National Assets to a foreign company. Thank God, Singaporeans are not like citizens of other countries, we don't take to the streets. Most recent case, the sale of Thailand telecommunication to Temasek caused a out cry among the Thais and that lead to them taking to the streets.

Since both GIC and Temasek has reported good growth and healthy dividen growth why is there a need to sell of all 3 of Singapore's power plant?

Just wondering will this 3 Gencos gang up like those fuel supply companies...after all is the 2 are in the oligopoly market.. .. remember the days when our fuel exceed $2 per liter? It just take 1 company to increase it prices and the rest will follow..vice versa...

TEMASEK Holdings has stunned the market by announcing that it has sold electricity generator Power-Seraya to a unit of Malaysia's YTL Power International for $3.8 billion.

This came just a week after the Singapore investment company said it would shelve tender plans for PowerSeraya, owing to 'market conditions'.

Market talk had suggested that relatively poor investor interest and lower-than-expected indicative bids by investors had led to Temasek's earlier decision.

Temasek said in a statement yesterday, however, that Sabre Energy, a wholly-owned unit of YTL Power, would pay $3.6 billion for PowerSeraya and assume $201 million of its adjusted net debt as at March 31 this year.

The transaction for PowerSeraya - the third and last of the electricity generation companies (gencos) to be sold by Temasek - is expected to be completed early next year.

In June last year, Temasek announced it was selling the three gencos to liberalise the power generation industry. It had targeted to complete the sale by the middle of next year.

Ms Gwendel Tung, Temasek's director of investment, said yesterday that after the company put a stop to the tender process last week, YTL Power submitted an 'unsolicited proposal' that met Temasek's requirements.

Referring to YTL Power, Ms Tung said: 'We are confident that their expertise and experience will add significant value to Singapore's electricity market and PowerSeraya in particular.'

Other factors may have also come into play. One possibility, suggest industry watchers, is that the funds will come in handy in helping cushion losses from other investments that have soured amid the global financial crisis.

They say another possibility concerns Temasek's outlook on market conditions. Temasek might have worried that, with asset prices declining rapidly, it might not have been able to secure such an 'acceptable' price again had it 'procrastinated'.

Temasek's other gencos fetched higher prices. Tuas Power went to Chinese firm Huaneng for $4.23 billion. Senoko Power, meanwhile, was sold to a consortium led by Marubeni Corp for $4 billion.

A third theory concerned the other bidders for PowerSeraya, which were said to be a Hong Kong CLP Holdings-led consortium and Bahrain's Arcapita.

Due to deteriorating market conditions, and with banks taking more precautions on lending, Temasek might have been concerned over whether these bidders would face difficulties in financing the deal.

Temasek declined yesterday to comment on the talk and also declined to provide the names of the shortlisted bidders.

The sale of the three gencos is aimed at liberalising the power generation industry. Private ownership can trigger stronger competition, possibly leading to lower costs and lower electricity prices.

The acquisition of PowerSeraya is not YTL Power's first foray into Singapore-based assets.

Its parent company, YTL Corp, owns majority stakes in two Sentosa Cove projects. In November last year, the group made history here by paying $2,525 per sq ft per plot ratio for Westwood Apartments in Orchard Boulevard - the most expensive site to be sold collectively.

YTL Power managing director Francis Yeoh said the 3,100MW of licensed capacity operated by PowerSeraya would give YTL Power 'significant participation' in the Singapore energy market.

YTL Power believes its participation in Singapore's electricity market will put it in a prime position to contribute towards the liberalisation of the Malaysian electricity market.

Train travel made easy...

Railways could soon link South East Asia to China and Europe.

Train lovers and travel nuts have long had a dream of going from Europe to Singapore by rail.

The journey to the East goes well as far as China, and the upgrading of tracks - sometimes with high-speed trains - is easing passage as far as Hong Kong.

From then on south, the rail buff, and potential cargo carriers, must wait just a few more years.

From south China into South East Asia is a bigger leap than it looks on the map - and not only for trains.

Diplomacy and funding from France and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have been agreed for the next step, from China to the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi.

And there are more routes being built from Kunming in the Chinese province of Yunnan.

Regional transport specialists told the BBC that two-thirds of the line from Kunming to the Chinese side of the border is completed, and a project is under way on the Vietnamese side to Lao Khai on the border.

Dreams to reality

Moving southwards through Vietnam, the aged track from Hanoi in the north to the southern hub of Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) in the south does daily duty for thousands.

It works, but is old and needs upgrading.

Even more urgent for the Vietnamese government are the urban rail projects it announced in September.

At least $15bn (£9.7bn) is to be spent on building tramways, sky trains and subways within Hanoi, and a metro in Ho Chi Minh City.

In Hanoi, complex upgrading works are being propelled by Japanese and French assistance; Japan is funding a feasibility study into elevating the entire urban railway, and a metro line is planned between the airport and the city.

In Cambodia, the entire national network is now being overhauled, rehabilitated and privatised, with the help of a foreign investor and multilateral funding.

Missing links

The Trans-Siberian train links Russia to China.

Getting from Vietnam to the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh, remains difficult.

The terrain demands several challenging bridges, feasibility studies for which have been funded by China.

A route has been identified to meet the Vietnamese border at Loc Ninh, which suits Vietnamese mining interests in the area.

But the money has not yet been found to meet the costs of the project of up to $500m.

Getting from Phnom Penh further westward into Thailand is perhaps the most startling difficulty, ever since the Khmer Rouge ripped up the train lines between their strongholds in north-west Cambodia and the border.

The Thai government is fixing up the six missing kilometres (nearly four miles) of track on their side.

Contractors are now working on the 48 km missing on the Cambodian side, from Sisophon to Poipet.

Just a few kilometres are missing between Thailand and Laos.

It is now agreed that the Thai government will pay for the rail track over the Friendship Bridge that crosses the Mekong River between the two countries.

Once it reaches a rail head on the other side of the river, a few more kilometres are needed for it to reach the Laotian capital Vientiane.

Big ideas

Other links are on the drawing boards, if the mountains and rivers can be tamed.

One idea is to link Chinese rail southward through Laos along the Mekong River, although the technical challenges presented by the dramatic landscapes would make this expensive.

That would still be easier than linking China to the south seas through Burma, where huge mountain ranges - and a cash-strapped government of ruling generals - bar the way.

This steam train on the River Kwai harks back to earlier times.

He and his colleagues have been asked by regional governments to upgrade recent transport plans "with a view to multi-modal transport", meaning the swapping of containers from trucks to trains and back.

In future it would be possible to catch a train, or put a container on a train, from Singapore to Phnom Penh within two years, and from Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City within five years.

A train ride along the banks of the Mekong might take a little bit more time.

Is a tragic news that a Singaporean lady was held hostage in India in the recent terrorist attack in the city of Mumbai was found dead.

She is Ms. Lo Hwei Yen, 28 a law graduate of the National University of Singapore, Ms Lo worked with Stephenson Harwood, a foreign law firm based here. She is the first Singaporean to die in a terrorist attack.

"The loss of any life to terrorism is sad, and the loss of a fellow Singaporean is a pain more keenly and closely felt by every Singaporean." Professor S Jayakumar.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said yesterday instead of waiting till February, the Government will announce bring forward the budget address to Janurary. To me this is a clear signal that the government of Singapore is takng a active role in reviving the economy.

PM also said measures to help business and workers can be expected 'within a week'. He went on to say that, the utility bills might go down."If we are lucky, it will be where we were before October." said Mr Lee.

No matter what.. Personally I think when we Singaporeans face any crisis..we will definitely thru own support behind PAP. At least they are the tested ones!

Singapore to expand budget in 2009

"If all of us go into a power save mode, then the economy will really go into a recession! This is what economists called the Paradox of Thrift. If you have sufficient savings and can afford to spend, you should continue to spend on life's little pleasures.

"Take your family to the movies, shop, dine out at restaurants and hawker centres, go for your regular foot massage, indulge yourself at a spa, take a taxi, donate to charity and so on.

"This way, we keep the economy going. In fact, I would say when times are a little slow, you could get the best bargain," the senior minister said.

Mr Goh, who is also the chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), assured those who bought structured products linked to failed US investment bank Lehman Brothers that the country's central bank is looking after their interests.

He explained that the MAS cannot announce every action that it takes because of market sensitivity.

Mr Goh said: "MAS has to be measured in its actions and statements because what it does has long-term implications on the confidence of investors in Singapore.

"To be fair and transparent to everyone, MAS has to communicate to all investors at the same time through public press statements. Hence, MAS cannot reply to any particular group of individuals or individuals who write to MAS on what it intends to do."

Looking back..I have been with BMC for 11years. Baptised in 27th March 2007 by then Rev. Edmund De Souza and Rev Lee Yam Kai. Still remember is was 'dunk' at East Coast Park Beach.

Also on this date BMC launched the My Hope Singapore project, a evangelistic outreach event where Christians open up their home to bringing the Gospel message to non Christian. Click on the words in red to find out more....

Alpha Holy Spirit Weekend Retreat

Alpha session 6 Holy Spirit weekend was held at SAF Yatch Club @ Tanah Merah Coast Road. It has a very nice, cosy seaside environment the only downside is that it is very much inaccessible unless you drive or you carpool in with someone.

We had quite and interesting time in learn and shairng the words of the Lord. Played a interesting ice-breaker games, "Round the World in 80 seconds" of cos is impossible to do that..right? is just a game!

Lunch was scrumptious, the only few dishes I could remember area...spaghetti, grilled Stingray in chilli and burbur hitam(black bean desert with coconut milk)!

Today kicks off the 1st F1 night race in the world, The Singapore Grand Prix. At least other then in Malaysia there is one in Singapore in this part of South East Asia.

A friend of mine who is at the race as spectator called in the evening just to let me hear the sound that is coming from the tracks.. phew.. is real screaming loud!

Hope this event brings in huge tourism dollars to boost our economy, just hope Singapore pools don't start another F1 race betting!

Tactless, Untimely Diplomacy

I was stunned and astonished by the way STTA President Lee Bee Wah way of handling the current issue of team manager - coach saga.

The issue right now is not about foreign talent or local talent. The focus point should be on the way it is being handled and being grateful for the efforts put in by the winning team. Dare you say the coaches has no part in the success.

It is plain high handedness..this is a sport organisation. You don't run a such organisation the way you run your business or constituent.

I believed as a elected MP to represent the people and to take on elected office in the government, you should have shown some form of tactfulness, PR-management, sense of timing on releasing your decision and last but not least.. EQ!

Such organisation is about people, relationship, bonding.. you got to run this organisation with humanity, understanding and passion for the game and the people.

Team manager Lee and Chief Coach Liu guodong(coach since 2006 with STTA-women team) and together with players, Lee Jia Wei, Wang Yuegu, Feng Tian Wei, brought back the long waited Olympic medal.

Years of training, 48 years of long wait came over Olympic Silver Medal, with a single decision of yours(bee wah) you sacked the two. And now you claimed that you never use the word 'sack'. Then could it be that SPH misquote you? If so I challenge you to sue SPH. For misleading the public and putting Singapore, STTA, other organisations and yourself in a bad light.

Look here Bee Wah, both Lee and Liu has done well in their assignment in getting the Silver for Singapore. Right now they are HOT in DEMAND!

It is to Singapore disadvantage if they were asked to leave STTA, I am sure neighbouring table-tennis association will be please to offer them better contracts!

Sincerely, this is NOT the kind of Member of Parliament I will vote into Parliament. We should be of a society that is ready to admit to mistakes, review them, be forgiving and see how mistakes can be avoided in future.

Didn't the PM Lee speaks about being a gracious society during his National Rally speech? How can we fellow Singaporeans follow such lead when our leaders are not gracious?

We cannot denied the fact that damage has been done to the morale of the table-tennis team. Hurt is done and is hard to undo. What impression will it give to the in-coming coaches and team manager?

Is STTA a place that doesn't allow mistake? Is there no room for errors or failure?

Army Bay Run

Not much preparation was done for this run, except of a jog on the thread mill 3 weeks prior to the run.

I clocked 45mins for 5km run on the thread mill. But the end result for the actual 6km fun run with my friend Janus was around 1hr 15mins, time was spent taking photos during the route. Not a amazing result, could have done better..hope to do better next year. Of cos with some preparation, I hope I can sign up for 21km run.

Marsh Potato

My parents are off for their monthly Star Cruise outing. Thus giving me the opportunity to 'mess' up the kitchen with my cooking. Since as a young boy I always love cooking, the earliest I can recall when I was with my nanny at the age of 5years old.

Whenever she cooks, I will definitely join her in the kitchen. So far the furthest I went in cooking and successfully will be Fried Rice and Fried Bee

But this time, it will be my first in making Marsh Potato from scratch using raw materials.. and quick successful but the downside will be.. is a little bit to salty.

Here is the steps:

Here, I took five potatoes, put them into a pot of water and bring it to boil. This process took me about 15 to 20 minutes.

This stage, I transfer the cooked potatoes into a bowl of tap water. First it cool down the potatoes. With the 'contraction' between the potato skin and the potato itself, it will be easier to peel off the potato skin.

Now, after i have peeled the potato skin, it is time to smash your potato. Remember not to smash it too soft, this will give it a bit of crunchy potato feel.

Below are the ingredients for 'cooking' your marsh potato. They are, Salt, Beacon Bits, Coarse Black Pepper, Low-at Milk and lastly butter.

Here is the steps I used to make my marsh potato.

1) Put in butter into the pan and add in the marsh potato.

2) Put in marsh potato.

3) Pour in desired amount of milk to the richness you want.

4) Sprinkle some salt and pepper.

5) Generous amount of beacon bits.

6) Dish up the cooked marsh potato.

Bingo!..

Here is the end product, easy to make right? Well it is my very 1st time making marsh potato from scratch. Previously I will buy off the shelve pre-mix. Not bad for a first-timer like me right?

Indeed God is good and we should give thanks to Him in all things. Recounting how I got involved in the 1st season of Alpha in 2006 and seeing subsequent Alpha Course along the way right up to Alpha 5. God has been blessing this area of work BMC been doing.

From Alpha 1 to Alpha 5, we have seen 143 participants going thru 13weeks of Alpha Course, meeting on very Thursday night. We had dinner together followed by video show by Nicky Gumbel, after the show we break up into discussion groups, where participants are free to ask any question they have.

At this point I would like to acknowledge Pastor Joel for his guidance & leadership in nurturing and building up countless facilitators, his endless emails and SMSes to encourage the Alpha teams. And how can we forget the impact he has made on Alpha participants!

I was watching the night news and I got excited over this website www.oneshift.com. According to the interviewee Evan Lee, Oneshift's managing director. The website was setup 2years ago.

Recently, they introduced a new mapping service which allow drivers to plot their journey. It also lists the number of gantries they will pass through, along with their associated charges.

The mapping program was introduced in response to the growing number of ERP gantries, which will see the total number of gantries hitting 65 by this Monday.

I believed this is good news to many drivers, at least you get to check on the possible charges you might incurred or at least try a different route to get to your destination.

NLB Book Sales

This year, the National Library Board's sale is going to be bigger and better with more then 100,000 items up for grabs.

Approximate of 400,000 used books will be on sale at the Singapore Expo Hall 4A, prices ranging from $1 to $5.

The public has a wide choices to choose from, ranging from bestseller fiction, children's books, travel guides and magazines...and many more.

Good thing is, i stay near Singapore Expo..so i gonna be there by 9.30am on friday morning!

30cents Diesel surcharge from 17 July 2008

Wah..Buay tahan liao la! everything is going northward!!

Come 17 July, ComfortDelGro, Singapore’s largest taxi group is imposing a 30 cents surcharge to help its Cabbies to cope with increases in diesel costs.

Help? Hello!! What up your idea man! Comfort is subsidising the cost of diesel to its Cabbies at $1.19 cents per liter of diesel. I remember not too long ago, there was and increment in the taxi fare. An now another 30cents surcharge?

I can easily effort the 30 cents surcharge. But if the commuters allow this to happen, will it set a precedent for the taxi companies to do likewise when there is another fuel hikes?

In my conclusion... I am against it! It will set a very bad precedent! Su ka Su ka(anyhow) increase price one ah?

End of In Camp Training

9th July is the end of my 22days long of ICT(In Camp Training). And it is also for 2years running my ICT coincide with Exercise CARAT(Cooperation Afloat Readiness And Training). A series of bilateral exercises between the US sailors with their regional counterparts.

Having completed my 7th ICT, I am left with 3 more years to go before I stand down and be posted to MR Unit. At least I do know the schedule of my 1 of my last 3 ICT, that is live range!!! Actually..I am looking forward to live range, kind of remind me of my BMT days!

At least of for the next one year I won't be using my No4 uniform...

Let's end my ICT with this video clip..well..i don't come from Jack Neo Era though...

Can't wait to serve? nah.. depends on how one look at it.. to some.. ICT is a time they are looking forward to.. for others.. they just dragged going back..

For me.. is just mixed feelings.. 23days of ICT..pretty 'siong'..well..can't say too much here.. since is a national secret on what we men in ICT do.. :)

This dish is fried mushroom with mash potato & mushroom soup..well you can see that I am a real fan more all things mushroom!

Now you see it now you don't! Where is the beef? The white grain stuff is actually sea salt to add flavour to the beef.

I love my beef cooked..I just don't like the blood taste anymore...so rare or medium rare is a No! No!

Total damage: $80/=

NDP 2008

Submitted 3 Names for ballot for this year NDP 2008. Previously I have been doing the same thing but this year mum's name won the ballot for 2 tickets to the 9th Aug NDP!!!

Great also cos, is the 2nd time NDP will be held at the Marina Bay Stadium! no harm settling for the 2nd best!! :)

Right now at Citroen Servicing Center to get my 30,000km servicing done and is off to Marina Bay floating platform Function Rm 2 to collect the NDP tickets.

Hypnotist Tom Silver

Just wonder if anyone had come under a hypnotist?? I been thru a similar encounter during NCA(National Archiver Congress) quite a long time ago, maybe during the year 2001.

We were asked to stretch out our hands and under the hypnotist, we were given the suggestion that the right hand is holding a helium ballon and it is getting lighter and lighter...while on the other hand, we are carrying a bag of sand and it is getting heavier...

end result..when everyone opened their eyes and including me.. our right hands were up in the air..while our left hand is on our lap.. amazing right?

Rising Fuel Price

Topped up my Citrone Berlingo light goods van. Was terribly shocked at the cost of diesel. Diesel was like $1.30 per liter 1yr ago and now is at $1.80 per liter..and that was what i used to pay for Petrol 1yr ago.

Increased in worldwide consumption..everything is going up.. rice is one good example. But President Bush can't blame India and China for eating too much....while the local news reported that USA contribute 5% of the world resources but consumed 25% of it..

Should start charging my customer for wine delivery, travel less, ride bicycle more...

Daily Devotion

Was happy and delighted for myself there I was disciplined enough to do my devotion in the morning before i start my day with work and other stuffs.

Is never an issue thing to do, the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak, many times i wanted to do my devotion before the start of the day rather then end of the day. But alas.. managed to do so for the whole of this week.

At least the spirit is feed with God's word before i get myself caught with the busyness of the day's work. Sometimes the bible verses may not be applicable so immediately..but at least I am feed.

China earthquake & Myanmar Cyclone

Looking at the 2 different governments, I feel the Chinese government has done better in crisis management, their Premier Wen was there at the disaster zone for the people and to direct rescue efforts. Contrast different from the Burmese government.

The Junta in this case, has refused all Aid Workers initially, stating; ‘Give me the Aid and stay away… We don’t need your help’. Then why in the first place they need Aid?

Looking at China, Singapore Premier Lee offered SCDF Disaster Assistance Rescue Team and $200,000. in financial aid, which was warmly welcomed by Premier Wen. However, the DART team was declined as time was not ‘ripe’ as access route to the disaster zone is not accessible. (See… at least China welcome relieve efforts but they provided a valid reason.)

Unless access route is cleared, having relieve workers there will put on farther strain on the Chinese government to look after them.

Only hope is for the Burmese government will open up their borders quickly to receive Aid workers.
